Roots & Shoots

Morris Brandon has a long history of giving back on the local, national and international level.  We continue to foster the growth of our community service commitment each year.  It is the goal of Brandon to make each child aware of the role we all play in supporting our local and global communities.  Be it time, money, attention, concern or dedication, our goal is to impress upon students from every economic background that there’s always something they can give to make their community a better place. We partner with a variety of charities, organizations and mainstream efforts to allow students to participate in an on-going variety of projects and events. Some of the ways Morris Brandon Gives Back include:

    Books for Blaylock

Donating to help to build the playground at Scott Elementary

Jump Rope for Heart for the American Heart Association

School supplies and coat drives for local needy schools

The Morris Brandon PTA has recently become a member of the Roots and Shoots program.  The Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. Roots and Shoots, philanthropy club, inspires young people to follow in the steps of Dr. Jane Goodall and "foster respect and compassion for all living things; to promote understanding of all cultures and beliefs and to inspire each individual to take action to make the world a better place for people, animals and the environment."

The concept of giving back also reinforces many of the world views promoted within our IB curriculum. In this way, Morris Brandon provides many creative outlets for students to learn by doing and to teach by example.
