Morris Brandon Primary Center

Situated on a lovely wooded lot in the Margaret Mitchell neighborhood, Brandon Primary Center is home to our littlest Bees, our Kindergarten and First Grade students. Opening its doors in August, 2009, Brandon Primary is a remarkable renovation of the former Margaret Mitchell Elementary School, which had served generations of Atlantans since 1954. With impressive state-of-the-art aesthetic upgrades and Silver LEED certification, the existing building was completely renovated, from top to bottom. The campus is designed to accommodate up to 450 children in 25 kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Currently, there are 20 active classrooms; each one is outfitted with computers that use the Linux Operating System, as well as a Promethean Board. The Primary Center also includes an art room, music room, media center/library, cafeteria, auditorium/gymnasium and facility space for speech, ESOL and other special needs students.

In addition to the bucolic setting and wonderful classroom views, the students enjoy a wonderful new playground, which has been specifically designed to suit the needs of kindergarten and first grade children. The playground is equipped with an adaptive swing and ramps, to allow access and play opportunities to children of all abilities.

Brandon Primary Center provides a unique and nurturing learning environment specifically for our younger students before “graduating” to 2nd grade at our Main Campus, less than 2 miles away.
