Founded in 1947, Morris Brandon is part of the Atlanta Public School system and has enjoyed tremendous support from its surrounding neighborhood throughout its 64-year history. The school is named after local business leader, Morris Brandon, whose three sons donated the land to underscore their father's belief that the "best possible education" is the best way to provide for the future.
Morris Brandon is nestled on approximately 10 acres of land in the residential area of Buckhead, within the city of Atlanta. Morris Brandon has grown over the years to keep up with an ever-changing community. The school has undergone many renovations throughout its history. Renovations include the addition of classroom space, a media center, gymnasium, and computer lab. The playground renovation includes a new track and synthetic turf field, play structure, swings and an outdoor sports court with four basketball goals. There is a nature center and an outdoor theater also located on the property. In August 2009, Morris Brandon experienced its biggest change with the opening of the Brandon Primary Center (grades K-1). The Primary Center is located just a few miles from our Main Campus giving our younger students an abundance of space and allowing for numerous opportunities for physical, social and intellectual growth.
There are currently 1,200 students enrolled at Morris Brandon Elementary, with 50+ certified classroom teachers on both campuses. In addition, there are certified teachers specializing in art, music, writing, French, physical education, orchestra, band, speech and language pathology, Challenge (gifted program), Programs for Exceptional Children, and the Early Intervention Program. Over 70% of the Morris Brandon certified staff has earned advanced degrees. There are 10 classroom paraprofessionals who work with the kindergarten classes.
